Mpower is expanding our Out of Home Care Residential Services and we’re seeking experienced and capable individuals to step into Lead Support Worker roles within our therapeutic residential care homes.

operation of Mpower has grown from a small voluntary service to an accredited agency employing more than 100 staff, providing a range of clinical and support

services to over 1400 families regionally. Mpower now provides a range of disability services and community services and we specialising in supporting children, young people and families reaching their full potential.

About the Role

As a Residential Lead Support Worker, you will play a key role in ensuring each shift runs safely, effectively, and in line with Mpower’s therapeutic and trauma-informed approach. You will provide hands-on leadership, support decision-making on shift, and model best practice in working with children and young people who may present with complex needs and behaviours, to support them build life skills and promoting a safe and nurturing home environment.

This role operates across a 24/7 roster, including sleepovers, active nights, weekends, and public holidays.

Key Responsibilities

• Leading and coordinating shifts within a residential care setting
• Providing guidance, direction, and support to Support Workers
• Managing incidents and responding to behaviours of concern
• Ensuring accurate and timely documentation and reporting
• Supporting the implementation of care plans and therapeutic frameworks
• Acting as the key escalation point during shifts
• Promoting a safe, stable, and nurturing home environment

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking confident, capable individuals who:

• Bring experience in residential care, youth work, or out‑of‑home care settings
• Lead with confidence, making sound decisions in fast‑paced and dynamic environments
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of trauma‑informed practice especially to young people with disabilities
• Respond calmly and consistently when managing complex or high‑pressure situations
• Communicate effectively, offering guidance, support, and clear direction to others

Highly Regarded

• A Certificate IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention (or a higher relevant qualification)
• Demonstrated experience in a Lead Support Worker or similar senior position
• Proven capability in supporting children and young people with complex needs and behaviours

Applicants with strong disability support experience who are ready to step into a leadership role and are willing to undertake or transition into relevant qualifications.

Employment terms and conditions are in line with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 with the applicable classification level 3 and pay point depending on qualifications and experience.
